Default Posting Guidelines

This is something that was brought up and voted on by the Board and seemed like a good idea to protect the Clubs mission.
It is now law and will be enforced on the Website.
  • Links to non-sponsoring vendors' sites are not allowed.
  • Links to other clubs' activities are not allowed unless approved by the board.
  • No personally abusive or disparaging comments.
Posts that do not follow these guidelines will be deleted and posters warned. After a warning, there are three strikes...

1st: 24 hour ban
2nd: 72 hour ban
3rd: Lifetime ban

All bans are confirmed by the co-chairs.

This post will be updated as necessary.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Does the non-links to vendors sites also include links to "vendors" that don't compete with our vendors? and by "vendors" are we meaning installers/dealers, or store sites, too, i.e. like Magnaflow.com, etc. ?

the more clarification, the better, I say

I think it was decided that unclickable links were ok.

Correct, so if you have the name and address or web site address that does not have a direct link to the site.

A link is a link, weather it's clickable or not, the purpose here is to insure that members and associate members are not used to advertise businesses and other sites that compete with business sponsors of C5G and/or pull membership away to other car clubs. we value are membership and we value are sponsors and want to keep both. if you think you may be imposing on a grey area ASK A BOARD MEMBER FIRST in a PM

We all want to hear about great places that do great work on our cars so we don't want to sway anyone from offering any advice or opinion about a business that may great, just be conscientious of the clubs mission

One could argue about when a link is or is not.

I agree, supporting sponsors helps keep the site up and running!

I think what some were asking, is if it is OK to point someone in a direction of a company that DOESN'T compete.... like for Bob's Pool Cleaning... etc. (whether there is a clickable link or not)

That is an extreme example, but, a good point.

I think we should ask sponsors to create a post that says what they do.

It would be nice to be able to search a forum for that type of stuff.

yes, an extreme example, but if it doesn't get covered, then people are left to wonder what's OK and what might get them in trouble, that's all.
