The Gold Card was a cool like token, but now everyone has the standard card - what's the point? There's only so much time I can spend shooting hoops, raking tokens or dropping pucks on to little circles... Most of their other arcade games are a little stale and like 5 variations of the same game... I'm not a DDR person either, so those don't really do much for me..

I'm a very competitive gamer... I sunk nearly 2,000.00 on a new rig just to play a 50.00 game.
Eh... I absolutely see your side of it as I used to spend a TON of time at the one downtown. I always went in the later hours due to the whining brats. Large corps. are always going to look for the best revenue generator possible. That's how they stay on top. I tend to share the "your dollar is your vote" mentality as well. I was recently at the one in addison and a lot of games were out amongst another issue we had with a staff member. However, there still exists friendly staff. Overall, I still enjoyed myself.

It's been almost 2 yrs now.. but, at the time it was:

2x 64GB SSD (1 for OS / 1 for Game)
2x 1TB in RAID1
2x 500GB in RAID1
i7-920 OC'd 20% w/ upgraded cooling system
Sapphire ATI 5850HD Vid Card
6GB DDR3
Windows 7 64bit

and some other things... Pretty average now, but it was smoking fast when I first got it.

Mass Effect 2 was why I purchased it.

I tried GT5 -- sucked... hell, I even bought the damn PS3 for that game.. What a waste.. It's too real-life for the input.

I liked NFS:Shift and NFS:Hot Pursuit.. Those were fun and doable with the xBox controls.

I've seen all the racing extras, but could never get a clear consensus on them -- and, since I know what it feels like in a real car, I'm very, very picky on them. For me -- when it's too real, it's just irritating because I can't feel the car and that's a lot of it for me.. Being able to feel movement in the car correctly through the steering, body and shifting is a big deal -- along with the g-force.. That's all missing on racing games.

I'm more of an RPG or FPSRPG type gamer.. I like the ones where I become the character, have moral choices to deal with, etc. Deus Ex, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, etc. Those are the games I love most. Games where I can't just pick up some rocket launcher and immediately know how to use it.

This is what it's like in my house. Not to quite the extent as you...

I used to spend $400-500 a month at D&B when I was a top DOC-WE player. That's Derby Owner's Club World Edition.
