Hi guys, I'm John and I've purchased my seventh Camaro. Over the years I've owned a lot of cars and this is my Camaro list:

    1968 Camaro Coupe
    1969 Camaro Z/28
    1994 Camaro Z/28
    1998 Camaro SS
    2000 Camaro Z/28
    1998 Camaro Z/28
    2010 Camaro SS/RS

I'm calling this one Sherman, because of the narrow slit-like windows and the fact it weighs around 4000 lbs.

    Details as purchased:

    2010 Camaro SS
    -RS option
    -1SS
    -6L80E transmission
    -6800 miles on the odometer

My plan is to enjoy the car stock for a while, then hit the track and see how quick I can run. Then I'll start modifying the car. I'm looking to avoid a cam or blower for the time being, though I've been down that road before with other builds.

Goal #1: Run 13.2x or quicker stock
Goal #2: Run 12.5x or quicker with 3 mods
Goal #3: Run 12.2 with mods, no converter
Goal #4: Run 11.9, finally installing a torque converter

I was able to within two weeks of purchasing the car, run it stock at GLD. I ran on April 25th, 2012. I made 7 passes:

    (In order)
14.401@105.53 2.59 - Floored it off the line, spun like crazy but still ran it out for the mph
13.223@106.53 2.02 - Rolled into the gas, stab/tcs both off, no burnout, left off idle, coolant temps <195F
13.441@105.95 2.07 - Stalled it up a bit more, spun a bit, inconclusive
13.291@106.10 2.01 - Tried to roll into the gas faster, ran decent, short dry hop to the line
13.258@106.58 2.04 - Again tried to roll into gas faster, also lowered rear tire psi to 28, short dry hop to the line
13.156@106.77 1.95 - Everything clicked on this pass, but I did a longer burnout.
13.335@105.28 1.99 - Hotlapped since track was closing, temps were 200F+. I also bogged off the line lol I rolled into the gas too slow.

    SLIPS:

    Woohoo!!!!

I've been enjoying the car quite a bit. I've been hoping to run the car stock again, but I went to Detroit for a work trip Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday, disaster struck:

A bit strip of tread came off a tire of an 18 wheeler and I was unable to move over very much, so this 5 foot strip of rubber split my bumper in half and dented the fender and door. I was 4 hours from home, and wanted to avoid a long tow, so I decided to cut the damaged part off since it was only hanging by a small attached section, like six inches. I borrowed an electric saw from a gas station and did some surgery:

Hitting a goal within the first 2 weeks of owning the car must be nice! Sounds like you have a good list of goals to accomplish and I can't wait to see/hear how it goes!

Thanks Steve. I'm hoping to run stock again but once the weather stays warmer I probably won't be able to better my time, so I'll see how that goes.

I've got a few mods in mind, I'm tossing around about 4 right now.

I wanted to run stock myself but I couldn't wait from november till around now to mod so I had to do the intake and exhaust. I would like to get a few runs in with these mods tho.

Let me know when you go and where.

What mods? Or are they a secret right now?

I'm not sure which ones I will do first, though they all come from a pretty obvious list. I'm still thinking on this.

Car is getting dropped off Monday to get fixed, current estimate is $3500 but the sense is that it will be more than that. If the weather is nice, I'll go race it right after I get it.

Dropped of the 'tank yesterday, current estimate is $3,000.

I'm weather watching, and unless a cold front moves in, my chances of beating my 13.15 ET might be gone. If that's the case I'll start modifying the car.

I might be getting my car back today, but so far no call.

I got so bored I started this thread: [BUILD] Project AWESOME - 2010 Honda Civic - Planet LSX Magazine Forums

I had this weird ass dream that my car got wrecked 12 days after I bought it and I was driving a civic all week.

I checked, I have my car... Weird dream.

Did having the Honda for a week give you any mod ideas?
