Absolutely not..
New cars are no longer "chipped" as they were in the early days of ECU. We all have programmable controllers that get tunes.
The HP gains are just absurd as well...
I'm doubting it's actually a chip of any kind... Probably a resistor inline to make the computer think the air coming in is colder/denser and thus increasing spark/fuel or leaning it out.. Who knows with this kind of stuff. --- you don't want to to lie to you ECU on what it's actually getting in.. well, unless you want to make some of our sponsors here money on repairs.Last edited by Guest; 06-09-2012, 09:45 AM.

It's sad products like this are still sold.. They're just lying to the computer about the incoming air which can cause a real issue in terms of combustion mixture.Originally posted by JJZUMMO View PostIm an electronics teacher, I got loads of IC's .... I could clean up here! lol
But, whatever, a fool and his/her money or some such..

I don't claim to be an expert of auto-mechanics, but modern cars have very sophisticated systems controlling the majority of the car. They're very good at handling what they're designed to do and while tuning a car (the right way) can bring about more power, etc... that has to be done by people that know what they're doing, in the software itself and calibrated correctly.. otherwise, you're just wasting fuel/money, getting less than optimal performance and/or setting yourself up for part failures.Originally posted by SYCK SS View PostThese do more harm than good down the road. I agree with Randy, i am amazed they are still sold with the amount of information on the internet related to these and the bad experiences. Be warned - keep these away from your cars!!!
This isn't the old days of TBI and Carbs.. You don't just turn screws and move wires about without potentially causing chain reaction events.
Sure they might make more power, but I'd like to see what the EGTs are along with exhaust gas compositions. 10-15HP isn't worth running a cylinder too hot and then melting a piston (or otherwise damaging event).
