Depending on traffic, this should be about 45 min to an hour - the place that we had a tint-event at last year wasOriginally posted by fastfreddie View PostMy nephew is looking for a place that does window tinting in the Hyde Park Area or within an hour drive. Suggestions?
Quality Window Tinting

We've also had members use Umbra in Schaumburg(also about 45min -1 hr)

Reason I'm asking is, my nephew was at my house yesterday for my Dads funeral. He goes to school at University of Chicago. He bought his car (Mazda 3) with the windows already tinted. His car was parked in the street and he came out with a ticket on his window from the CPD for tinted windows. He said the ticket was marked NO TINT as if any tint on the windows is not allowed. My nephew doesn't know if the tint is the legal limit for Illinois because he didn't do the tinting. My suggestion to him was to take it to a shop and have it measured to see what the tint percentage was, thus the reason for this post asking for a shop he could take it to. I don't know how they measure the amount of tint but would think they have to open the door to do that. If so, not possible for the CPD on my nephews car because it was parked.
The fine is $250. Freaking ridiculous!sigpic

Sorry to hear about his ticket but happy to hear he's a UOC student = ) I was just downtown on Thursday for a meeting by Cellular Field I had a parking permit....and low & behold from Chicago's finest parking patrol....a ticket for no front plate it was only $65 but just so aggravating.

In Chicago, they don't go by the new state law for tint. They still follow the old rule of no tint on the front side windows (or side windows for 2 door cars)Originally posted by fastfreddie View PostReason I'm asking is, my nephew was at my house yesterday for my Dads funeral. Last time I looked at a map Chicago was in Illinois. And $250 fine....really? Yet another reason to hate Illinois.Originally posted by Toasty View PostIn Chicago, they don't go by the new state law for tint. Starting January 1, 2014 the Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that "home law" violates the Illinois state constitution and is therefore not valid and not enforceable. This ruling took place this week but will not go into effect until January 2014. Just FYI.Originally posted by Toasty View PostYes, but they use this wonderful thing called 'Home Rule' so they can apply the law locally overtop of the state....

Bet they will be issuing a lot of citations between now and the end of the year, then. That should fix the states debt crisis.Originally posted by Bubbles View PostStarting January 1, 2014 the Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that "home law" violates the Illinois state constitution and is therefore not valid and not enforceable.
