When I had my vette, I would just go traction off, still leaving the rest on just incase you get sideways. Atleast you have a fighting change of getting the car straight if its helping you. But with the traction control off, you will still be able to do a healthy burnout and run hard. Just press the button once. Sport mode is going to stop your wheel spin, and you want some. A little for the burnout, and some for squeaking off the line and between shifts. You dont want the car falling on its face if it detects a little wheel spin. Just if you get sideways.Originally posted by cheech4235 View PostDo you guys and girls have any pointers for a first timer with an l99. I agree with this, unless you got really sticky tire. My buddy just took his auto GTO to the track and would spin with any higher rpm launches With his street tires.Originally posted by TonyNo View PostGenerally, for the autos, I think Sport mode and launch from idle (no brake stand).

No one can 100% answer that question.. You can technically break an axle on OEM tires --- However....... The Auto trans cars generally break parts less frequently than those of us with a manual. Your torque converter helps shield you from the sudden drive line shock that clutch cars can get.... But, anything is possible and Drag Radials are going to put your drive line under more strain when they hook... Make sure, though, if you experience any wheel hop to immediately get out of the throttle.
